Today is the day I am sharing my makeup lover’s holiday gift guide! It is finally the holiday season and for me it’s the best time of the year! This season is my absolute favorite. It all starts with Halloween…although this year it began a day earlier when my niece Olivia was born. So starting with Olivia’s birthday, then Halloween, I then have my sister and my mom’s birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, then finally New Years! Some people love their birthday month most but for me I enjoy buying gifts for others SO much more than receiving gifts. I think it boils down to my love for shopping and I’ve always loved shopping for others even more, which makes the holidays so much fun! So this year I thought what better way to share the wealth then to make a holiday gift guide: specifically geared to the makeup lover.

The Inspiration Behind The Gift
I got the idea when I was shopping for my sister Tricia’s birthday gift. She is a professional makeup artist and an overall makeup lover. I wanted to buy her things that would be exciting and new…particularly things she probably wouldn’t buy for herself. Makeup can be very expensive and it can be intimidating to buy a makeup gift for someone who already seems to have it all. This guide is perfect for anyone who loves makeup. Whether they are just now starting to build their collection, already have a small collection, or they have a large collection.
Number 1: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick is something I’ve wanted to try for a while now. When I first heard about it and swatched it I instantly wanted it. However at the pricey tag of $48 it was definitely an item I quickly talked myself out of buying. This is why it is a perfect gift for a makeup lover! It is something they most likely wouldn’t casually purchase for themselves and would be excited to receive as a gift!
Number 2: Lime Crime Aquarium Glitter Brush Set
When I saw this brush set I immediately knew this had to be included in Tricia’s gift. Because this is a novelty set, it is definitely not something someone who already has an impressive brush collection would buy. But they are so fun!!! Not only are they super cute and fun, they are vegan and cruelty free. This was an easy purchase for me and I think it would be a win for any makeup junkie out there. You can never have too many brushes right?
Number 3: Marc Jacobs Lipgloss
Lipgloss can be a tricky purchase. To the non makeup wearer, it may seem like a safe and easy buy. However, if you’ve ever worn lip gloss you know that they can be uncomfortable, too tacky, not glossy enough, or leave a gross residue on your lips. If you want to purchase somebody a lipgloss for a gift, this Marc Jacob’s Hi Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer is a safe bet. It is very glossy, super comfortable to wear and has a plethora of shade options. I bought the shade Skin Deep but I also found that they have a mini set of glosses where you could try different shades.
Number 4: Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Palette
This mini Palette by Huda Beauty is perfect for a gift. Even for somebody who already has a ton of eyeshadow palettes! Not only is the mini palette less expensive but it is great for travel! It is also great for someone who is just starting to get into makeup. Because it is mini it’s a little less overwhelming since there aren’t as many options. There are four different shade options available in this line but my personal favorite is this Smokey Obsessions.
Number 5: Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster
On a more random note, I included this MUFE Skin Booster Serum. This is definitely not something one would randomly pick out as a gift. However, I received a sample of this in my Sephora Play! box subscription and fell in love. At first I was a little confused as to what its purpose was but I would add it to my moisturizer before applying my foundation. After a few days of testing it out and using it with a few different foundations, I was sold! I feel like it gives my foundation application a more natural finish and my skin looks more supple. I went to buy myself the full size and figured I would throw it in to Tricia’s gift as well. This is a good gift for the makeup lover who likes to test out new things!
Like the skin booster serum mentioned above, this Clinique beyond perfecting foundation + concealer is a perfect gift for the makeup lover who loves testing out new products. I’ve always been fascinated to try this product because it looks like a foundation bottle but has a huge doe foot applicator like a concealer. I was also pleasantly surprised to find it was priced at $28 which isn’t the cheapest but is a far reach from others ranging from the $40s to $50s.
Lastly I grabbed this mini liquid lipstick set by Kat Von D. I know a lot of people love Kat Von D’s formula. What better way to try out a new lipstick range than to sample multiple colors. Mini makeup is the cutest. Lets me honest…mini anything is the cutest. Especially when thinking about gifts I feel like mini sets are always a win.
NON Makeup Gifts:
Finally I wanted to throw in a few non-makeup related gifts that can either supplement the makeup or just be a cute gift on their own. For Tricia’s birthday I found her a cute handbag from TJ Maxx that was the perfect size to hold all the makeup I bought her. This was a fun way to gift her the makeup because at first she thought the bag was the gift. It’s always a surprise when there is something inside! I linked a few similar bags I found on Amazon.
Amazon Add Ons:
Any one of the following items would be awesome as an add on in addition to the makeup or simply as a gift in and of themselves. I took inspiration from the product shots above and tried to find similar items available on Amazon. Personally the candle wick cutter is my favorite add on! I couldn’t live without mine after experiencing life with it. I hope this post inspired you and the makeup lover in your life loves their gift! If not, then it’s the thought that counts right?
