G&L Highlights

Happy Hump Day Lovelies!

Today I have for you the first installment of my new series G&L Highlights! Here I will discuss a few highlights from my week. This could either be a product I am loving, new products i’m testing out, tried and true favorites, along with something thought provoking from my week. Some fun things you have to look forward to in this post include: a new dry shampoo, a good daily lipstick, an all-skin-type moisturizer and lastly some thoughts on moving forward in life.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

Amika Perk up Dry Shampoo

The day has finally come where I have found another dry shampoo that I like! For years the only dry shampoo I have bought over and over has been Blow Pro Faux Dry dry shampoo. I still LOVE that one, however I am so happy to have found the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo.

So let’s discuss why I have been enjoying this product so much. First of all the packaging is so fun, vibrant, and eye catching. I went over to the Amika booth at the ISSE Long Beach Convention mainly because their set up was so colorful and I couldn’t resist it! I had to explore what this company was and what products they had to offer.

After testing Perk Up Dry Shampoo at the show I was impressed enough to purchase it and give it a true test at home. I’ve now been testing it for over a month and am very pleased with the results. The scent of this dry shampoo is pleasant and freshens up your hair odor without lingering too long. The aerosol can makes the application very quick and easy. There is no white cast or powdery patches that need to be thoroughly rubbed in. I just spray it in all over my roots give it a quick tossle and voila.

The main reason that I am falling in love with this Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo is because it absorbs oil and leaves your hair feeling light and clean! There is no heavy product feeling and it doesn’t make your hair feel stiff. You should know by now that I am a huge advocate for prolonging your style for as many days as possible. So whether you are a wash-every-other-day type of person or wash-once-a-week type of person…this product will work great for you!

Sephora Collection #LipStories Lipstick

#lipstories lipstick

This next product is a lipstick that was gifted to me from a friend in the sweetest Gal-entines Day gift. It was such a sweet touch and I couldn’t wait to take it home and try it on. You guys…the formula of this lipstick is so amazing! I have the #LipStories Lipstick in the shade ‘Brunch Date’ which for me is a beautiful nude. It is laced with peach undertones, warm tones, and gives enough color to stand out without being too bold.

The #LipStories Lipstick collection has three different finishes: matte, metallic, and satin and they go for $8 at Sephora! The one I have ‘Brunch Date’ is a matte finish which at first worried me. I cannot stand dry matte formula lipsticks. This lipstick, however, has a more cream to powder finish that feels soft and lightly matte. It’s extremely comfortable to wear and stays on very well.

I’ve found that if I eat or drink something it may wear off but I love that it doesn’t leave a ring around my mouth or patchiness. It wears off very well and I can easily reapply without it getting gunky or building up. Overall this has been my go-to daily lipstick this month and I am loving it!

Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream

Finding a face moisturizer that not only works well but isn’t over priced is difficult. But alas! thanks to the referral of a friend I have finally found one. The Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream can be found on Amazon, in Target, at Naimies, and more. It varies in price from place to place but I find it to be worth it because a little goes a long way.

In the mornings I put a small amount of serum in the palm of my hand and then a small dollop of this Embryollise moisturizer on top, emulsify and apply them all over my face. I never feel like my face feels sticky or oily after applying this and it quickly sinks into the surface of my skin leaving it feeling fresh and supple. I then go into my normal makeup routine.

At night I will apply a bit more to my face [but still a small amount] and I feel like I wake up with soft and healthy skin. I have problematic, combination skin and I have had zero reactions to using this Embryolisse Concentrated Lait Cream. It claims to be for all skin types and even says that you can use it as a primer, moisturizer, and makeup remover! I just overall am in love with this ’24 hour miracle cream’ and had to share it with you.

Moving Forward In Life Instead of Sitting Still

The last thing I want to highlight from my week is a mindset. When you want something in life, you can’t just wait around for it to happen. You have to get up, go out, and make it happen. When I was reading Counterfeit Comforts by Robia Scott she mentioned something that really changed my perspective on this. She says, from the perspective of God,

“Just step out. Make a decision. You do not have to worry. All you have to do is stay close to Me. If you misstep, I will course correct you, but I cannot course correct you if you do not move.”

This clicked. I feel like this is a message that God has been given me over and over in one way or another. It runs right along with the theme of fear that I’ve been battling with for months.

G&L Highlights || The Takeaway

That is my takeaway from this past week and what I wanted to share with you all today. You will not make any progress in life if you remain still and stagnant. You have to move forward! I believe it to be true that if you are staying close to God, as you move forward and make decisions, His Spirit will guide you. What confidence and peace that gives me. I hope it does for you to. I think it is ironic that I have had this quote on my Instagram bio for years:

“Ask yourself if what you’re doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.”

Well thats it for today guys! I hope you enjoyed my first G&L Highlights post! Maybe you are intrigued to try a new product or you’re encouraged to get moving towards a greater desire in your life! Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below!

xoxo Aly
