If you haven’t already noticed, things look a little bit different around here. Today I spent the whole day giving Grace and Lipstick a little spruce up. It has been over a year since I launched Grace and Lipstick and I was more than ready to mix things up a bit. Luckily, I have a very sweet and talented cousin who did an impromptu yet AMAZING photoshoot with me a few months ago!

The circumstances of this shoot could not have been any better. Not only were we collaborating with multiple different business but we only had an hour of daylight and no set location to shoot! I was amazed by how everything seemed to fall into place and we got the most beautiful scenery. Gods hand was in this situation for sure.

Photography and Florals

My cousin Michelle is a lifestyle and wedding photographer and she has all of her amazing work shared on her instagram and website. This whole shoot happened because Michelle’s friend Kristen had a floral booth at a bridal show down in Redondo Beach. Her friend is Kristen of KS Floral Concepts and they wanted to get a few shots of all the flowers she displayed at the show so they wouldn’t go to waste. You can also find Kristen’s work shared on her instagram and website.

That is where I came in, my cousin reached out to see if we knew of any models who might want to pose with the flowers. We decided to have my sister Tricia and her fiancé Will do a mock up engagement shoot. Michelle told me to bring a dress and be camera ready just in case we had time to do a few quick shots for Grace and Lipstick.

The Photoshoot You Couldn’t Plan Even If You Tried

This is where the amazingness of this shoot all came together. After picking up the flowers from the bridal show, hunting down a secluded location on a public beach, and filling our meter with scavenged coins from the car, Michelle shot all of these photos of me in less than 20 minutes, while we waited for Tricia and Will to arrive! That is pure talent.

I am so happy with how light and fun these photos came out. The beach looks beautiful, the flowers are gorgeous and it feels so free spirited. They encapsulate perfectly the vibe I am feeling for Grace and Lipstick moving forward.

The New Grace and Lipstick

Aly Christine

After taking a break a few months back and really evaluating my purpose and drive behind blogging, I’ve come back with a renewed perspective. I want Grace and Lipstick to be a place where I can come share whatever may be relevant to my life in that moment. Whether that be the makeup I did that day, the new products I’ve purchased, secrets from the hair salon world, lessons from the sermon on Sunday, or collections of moments from nights out with friends. Whatever it may be, Grace and Lipstick will be here to hold them all together.

The difference in Grace and Lipstick probably wont even be noticeable to most of you. It is really a new mindset for me and how I approach blogging. I want to be able to think of a post, sit down, type it out and have photos to tack on. In the past I’ve put a lot more thought and planning into my posts which really dragged out the process. My hope is that my content will feel more organic and less produced.
